Placemats

I made a set of blue and white placemats and hope to complete four more soon.  I used fabric from a line by Betsy Chutchian called "Rachel Remembered".  I measured a set of purchased placemats to come up with the size to make these.  The star blocks are four inches finished with half inch finished dark blue separating strips.  The placemats are thirteen by nineteen inches.

I have one mat flipped over so you can see the backing fabric.  I am going to take these as a donation to my husband's family reunion auction.

Two years ago, I made a set of four placemats in Liberty Gardens fabrics (an older line by Moda). Again, I have one flipped over so you can see the backing which is a Moda twill fabric.   These mats are wider.  I don't have the measurements available right now.  Fun to make.

I plan on sewing today.  Maybe on the second set of blue and white placemats.  I love the fabric line.

  13. Those are beautiful, I need to make a table mat for my trailer table, need to make it more homey. Could use one for my dining table too, but the cats ruin them.

  19. Both are very nice. I am especially partial to the stars made with the Liberty Garden's fabric. The color combination sets off the pattern beautifully.

  25. So pretty! And the lovely thing about placemats is you can make them different sizes - I don't think I have two sets that are the same size from the store, lol.
